George Carlin

I really loved George Carlin - and I grew to appreciate his brilliance more as I got older. I always marveled at his ability to sniff out hypocrisy and tell it like he saw it. He reminded me of a true hipster of the old school variety, and watching him take off on one of his riffs always felt to me like a great improvisational instrumentalist. So I'm saddened to hear about his death tonight. Here's one of my favorite clips of his:

He will be sorely missed.

Damn. Way to kick off the week. My all time favorite comedian, and, a man whose comments reflected my very own... so very sad to see him go.

What's even more sad about Mr. Carlin's death is that another LEGEND has passed on.

I'm 35, but I'm old school when it comes to true entertainers. There will never be another Frank Sinatra in the music world (music is pathetic these days), nor shall there be another Johnny Carson for the television audience to be glued to there chairs for late night entertainment. And, for the comedy world... we shall NEVER see another George Carlin!

Buddy Hackett and George Carlin used to be the best there was in my opinion... now, who do I have to look forward to... Carrot Top? I hear he's bigger than life right now... or, were they talking about the steroids that he's on... no matter... it's all just not funny any more.

Goodbye Mr. Carlin... Thanks for the memories!

The trilogy of original comedy : Lenny Bruce, Richard Prior and now the immortal George Carlin ! With the way he viewed the afterlife and all his irreverent wit, I still believe that if their is a heaven, he went there the moment he shed his mortal coil ! We have lost him here on earth but think of all the ones you love who now have him to be entertained in heaven ! George Carlin, The FINAL word in comedy and integrity !

God Bless you oh GREAT ONE !!!!

I think Carlin is the best of the best. That being said; stop with the Lenny Bruce already. He was not funny. He broke down some barrier by making a statement about society by saying "fuck" and "nigger" on stage, and he paid a price, but his comedy doesn't hold up now and he wasn't even the funniest comedian working at the time.
Hicks, Pryor and Carlin. Not in that order, but those are the social commentators that could make you piss your pants laughing.
